From trekking playful chimpanzees in the misty rainforests of Nyungwe National Park to coming face-to-face with majestic gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, and chasing the Big Five on thrilling Akagera safaris, this 8-day journey is designed for explorers craving adrenaline, culture, and unforgettable encounters.
Day 1 : Arrival in Kigali
• Arrive at Kigali International Airport – Your driver-guide meets and greets you.
• Transfer to your hotel for check-in and relaxation after the journey.
• If time allows, explore Kigali’s lively streets and markets.
Overnight : Hotel in Kigali.
Day 2 : Transfer to Nyungwe – Canopy Walk
• Early breakfast at your lodge, then begin scenic drive toward Nyungwe National Park.
• Stop at the King’s Palace Museum A glimpse of Rwanda’s royal heritage.
• Afternoon – Walk among the treetops on Nyungwe’s famous canopy walkway, swaying above the lush rainforest, or try zip-lining for an adrenaline rush.
Overnight : Lodge in Gisakura/Nyungwe.
Day 3 : Chimpanzee Trek – Tea Plantation Experience
• Early morning – Chimpanzee Trek – Follow their calls through the thick forest and track them in the jungle.
• Afternoon – Visit the Gisakura Tea Plantation, learn how Rwanda’s finest teas are grown and processed, and enjoy tastings.
Overnight : Lodge or guesthouse near Nyungwe.
Day 4 : Scenic Drive to Rubavu
• Enjoy a scenic drive along the Congo Nile Trail, winding through Rwanda’s rolling green hills.
• Stop for lunch at Karongi, overlooking the tranquil waters of Lake Kivu.
• Continue to Rubavu, a lakeside town perfect for sunset strolls and relaxing by the water.

Day 5 : Gorilla or Golden Monkey Trekking & Cultural Visit
• Early morning transfer from Rubavu to Musanze. Choose your adventure :
– Gorilla Trekking – Dive into the volcanic forests for a once-in-a-lifetime hour with Rwanda’s endangered mountain gorillas.
– Golden Monkey Trekking – Track these playful primates in the bamboo forests of Volcanoes National Park.
• Afternoon – Cultural Visit at Gorilla Guardians Village – Enjoy drumming, dancing, and local crafts.
Overnight : Lodge in Kinigi – Musanze.
Day 6 : Musanze Caves – Scenic Drive to Kigali
• After breakfast, visit the Musanze Caves – Explore the lava tunnels and learn about their geological and historical significance.
• Lunch in Musanze before a scenic drive back to Kigali.
Overnight : Hotel in Kigali.
Day 7 : Game Drive & Sunset Boat Ride
• Early breakfast, then transfer to Akagera National Park.
• Morning – Game Drive – Spot elephants, lions, rhinos, zebras, giraffes, and more.
• Afternoon – Sunset Boat Ride on Lake Ihema – Observe hippos, crocodiles, and colorful birds against a golden sky.
Overnight : Lodge inside or near Akagera.
Day 8 : Short Game Drive – Return to Kigali
• Morning – Short Game Drive – Capture last-minute wildlife sightings.
• Scenic drive back to Kigali with optional stops for crafts shopping or a farewell lunch.
• Drop-off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport for departure.
